Rihanna Says ‘I Was BANKRUPT Because of My Stupid Accountant’

Published by

Do you know popular pop-singer Rihanna was ‘effectively bankrupt’ in 2009?  Well, for those who do not know, now you know.

Sometimes, it’s just unimaginable for wealthy people like Rihanna to go near the bankruptcy mark. But Rihanna talking about bankruptcy simply means, she had 11 million dollars by the beginning of 2009 and by the end of the year, she had only 2 million left—-to her that is close to bankruptcy.

What at all do celebrities like Rihanna use their money for?

According to the “What’s My Name” hit maker, her accountant was responsible for her going near bankrupt. She even called the accountant stupid.  She had already filed a lawsuit against the accountant and other accounting firms she used back in 2009.

Funny enough, Rihanna’s ex-accountants have fired back at the R&B singer’s lawsuit against them, claiming the millions of dollars RiRi says she lost was her own fault and they had squat to do with it.

According to TMZ.Com;

Rihanna says her accountant made so many boneheaded decisions that he blew her fortune and she was “effectively bankrupt” by the end of 2009.

The singer claims in new legal docs she had $11 MILLION in cash at the beginning of 2009.  Rihanna says the accountant was not on the ball and she was horrified to learn at the end of the year she had $2 million left. To make matters worse, her expenses doubled, which left her on a financial cliff.

As for how Rihanna blew through $9 million in one year … she says her accountant gave her the green light to buy a house priced between $7 and 7 1/2 million. So she took his advice. She ultimately sold the house for a $2 million LOSS.

She also claims her 2009 tour — Last Girl on Earth Tour — was losing money but the accountant never gave her the heads up.

The legal docs were filed in connection with a lawsuit Rihanna filed against her accountant, claiming gross mismanagement.

By the way, Rihanna has rebounded nicely.  Her net worth is now estimated at $43 mil.

Maybe our celebrities over here in Ghana can learn something important from Rihanna’s case. That is if they have accountants and other professionals who make decisions for them at all.

Majority of our celebrities are their own “everything.” They are their own stylist, accountant, public relations personnel, advisor, and many more that one can think of.

If Rihanna claims the a professional accountant who she hired was responsible for her going near bankruptcy due to some ineffective decisions made, how much more you alone handling everything by yourself?

I get it, we do not have that kind of money to need an accountant….
