Leila Djansi who was once an apprentice on Socrate Sarfo’s movie set (the latter has once said) seems to have unending things to say about the ‘Hot Fork’ film-maker…
It seems an existing resentment between the two film-makers will live on forever—-since Leila always has something to say about Socrate, the moment the latter’s name pop up.
In a recent interview with NewsOne, Leila Djansi had the below to say when she was asked; Is Socrates Sarfo your friend?
I have never been at odds with Socrates. He told me not to come back to Ghana because the industry was choked. I did. He told me not to work with Akorfa, I did. Then he made a film I thought was exploitative, I told him about it and he got upset. When I see him, I go up to him, he ignores me. He goes about trying to sabotage me working in Ghana but I really don’t care. I buy all his films. Good or bad to support him and I’ll continue to do that as a sign of gratitude.
About the assumption that she is controversial, she said;
“I never know what to say when people say that! But my mother used to say something when we were growing up: a bad guest would always say his host is bad. Life is about cause and effect. Some said to me last week, oh Leila you like to fight. And I said please give me the name of who I fought. And he said Ghana Movie Awards. I don’t know when voicing an opinion became synonymous with fighting. The fact that you are too cowardly to speak up when things are going wrong doesn’t mean I am. God did not put me here to be a robot. If you are doing the wrong thing and I see it, I will say it. I don’t think people misunderstand who I am. I think the people who say that feel threatened by my confidence and knowledge.
I’ve worked in America for years and no one says that about me. So why Africa? When you are a woman they don’t consider you worthy of what you have achieved and yet you are confident, they come up with all these tags; ugly, controversial etc. It’s pathetic and it’s weak minded. Funny enough the people who say these about me have never met me, or have never even spent 10 minutes with me. They form their opinion from idle gossip and feeding themselves from gutter tabloids. You never form your opinion of someone based on another person’s view of them. You form yours. Example, a guy came up to me at a party in Ghana and said he saw me at an event and wanted to come say ‘hi’. But his friends told him I’ll abuse him so he didn’t. So he found it hard to believe I was sitting there with friends talking and laughing. This is someone who is a very good friend of mine now. If he were dumb, without experiencing me for himself, he’d go and tell someone else bad things about me”.
It seems Leila Djansi always has a lot on her mind to say….We know of people granting interviews when they have a product/movie to promote but out of the blue, Leila grants interviews and usually go wild with what she says.
We guess it works for her so we can’t complain.
what she said about socrates was very lovely. she buys his movies to support him. Is anything wrong with that? and is she not promoting her new film And Then There was You? This is very unfair how you treat Yvonne Nelson and Leila Djansi. You always seen to have something bad to say about this girls. This woman just has to shut up for once. I have read the whole interview and she dd not talk about any movie so it is obvious she is not promoting any movie but rather granting interview to talk nonsense as usual. Socrate should continue to ignore her cos I think this woman has a problem

Are you sure you are well informed? Celebrities grant interviews all the time, whether they are promoting anything or not. In an attempt to belittle Leila Djansi, you are misinforming your audience. You posted an interview about James Gardiner, what was he promoting? When you post pictures of actresses, what are they promoting?
Leila Djansi did not say anything bad about Socrates. She is promoting two films. The question the person who conducts the interview ask you that is what you will answer.
I think this is a deliberate attempt by Chris Vincent who is a Shirley Frimpong Manso fan and friend to discredit Leila Djansi because it is quite obvious she is a competition. People are saying positive things about the interview and you are not happy about it. You use your website to create hatred and division and you shamelessly enjoy the money you make from it.
I read the interview. Leila Djansi is nothing short of an inspiration, Many girls in her situation would have taken a sugar daddy and made money, but she struggled to succeed, She has won my admiration. Leila Djansi, keep talking, I think you should travel schools and speak to young girls like a motivational speaker because girls need to hear this. You always remember God, he will remember you too. Ties That Bind was a great film with a wonderful message.

Shirley Frimpong Manso has a new film coming out called vargiina Republic. Everything she does it about serx. When the movie comes out, you will now see Chris, jumping all over like someone put hot yam in his mouth, promoting copy copy storylines from Scandal with Kerry Washington. Leila Djansi makes movies that teach life lessons. My family and I cried when we watched Sinking Sands. She tells stories about women and our challenges. But look at how everyday. everyday, Chris abuses this girl. I met Leila too at Paff last year in Los Angeles. She was there with Blair Anderwood and they were both very nice. Such a kind hearted girl because I was standing outside when she was leaving, she recognized me and asked if I needed a ride. Ghana is big enough for Shirley and Leila to esxist together.

in as much as Shirley is fantastic at what she does…she makes movies that we cant relate to or shd i say most Ghanaians cnt relate to…her storylines are well developed stolen stories frm other movies….at least she has d decency touch it up with her own creativity unlike Frank Rajah n Roger Quartey n Abdul Salam…why do u think dat poorly produced n low quality Kumasi movies are being patronised? its because most of their stories r relatable n very African or shd i say Ghanaian. i challenge Shirley to step down frm all her glamour movies…A sting in a tale was great…we need more of that!
