Music Council of Ghana Drags MUSIGA to Public Account Committee for GHC 2 Million Accountability

Last year, GhanaCelebrities.Com got a scoop that the Music Council of Ghana MCG had sent a letter to the Public Account Committee PAC, imploring them to summon MUSIGA President Obour, to account for the GHC 2 M government budgeted for the creative art industry in its 2012 fiscal budget.

Following up on the story, our investigation has uncovered a letter the Music Council of Ghana sent to the Public Account Committee. Check below for a copy of the said letter…

In an interview with the President of the Music Council of Ghana, Mr. Nester Ekow Micah, he confirmed “yes, the council sent such a letter to the Public Account Committee. Fact is, we did it not out of any hatred against MUSIGA.

The money that was given was the tax payers monies so as a council which stands for probity, integrity and accountability for our music industry, we thought it appropriate to petition the Public Account Committee to summon MUSIGA President to account to the music industry and the public on how they spent the GHC 2 M that was given to the creative art industry.

We made circular copies to the Attorney General’s office as well as the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts. The Attorney General has replied to the council; assuring us that, they are serious looking into the matter. The tourism ministry has however not responded to our letter.”

In a separate interview with MUSIGA President, Bice Obour Osei Kuffour, he told GhanaCelebrities.Com, “Well, so far nobody has called me from the Public Account Committee to account for any money. Besides, I’ve not embezzled or misappropriated any public funds so why would they even summon me before the committee?

On the GHC 2M, MUSIGA has sent a report to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning. If any person want to know how MUSIGA spent the GHC 2, the fellow can go to the finance ministry and I’m sure they shall make all details available to the fellow.

Aside that, MUSIGA has used several media platforms to explain how we spent the money so it baffles me how some people are still raising attention as though MUSIGA has never said anything about the GHC 2M. We have nothing to hide!”

Obour went further to promise GhanaCelebrities.Com that he shall be making some documents available to us but not in the interim, because, he is a little fatigued after their GMW Festival. GhanaCelebrities.Com promises to call in on the office of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning for a report on how MUSIGA spent the first ever controversial GHC 2M to Ghana’s creative art industry.
