BullDog ‘Officially’ Charged With Conspiracy to Murder & Remanded in Custody for 2 Weeks

Bulldog

Just like I mentioned over the weekend in my article, ‘What We Can All Learn from BullDog’s Arrest in Connection with Fennec Okyere’s Death + How He Threatened Me Some Years Back’, Lawrence Nana Asiama Hanson popularly known as BullDog was charged with Conspiracy to Murder and Murder—-and was arranged before an Accra Magistrate Court this morning.

From the legal point of view, the fact that BullDog is being charged with Conspiracy means that the prosecutor suspects he may not have been present at the murder scene himself—and could have contracted or come together with others to have Fennec Okyere killed. But then, a second charge of Murder has been added which makes it seems like, the prosecutor is throwing both the short and long arm ball on BullDog.

Being charged does not really mean BullDog has done anything, except that the prosecutor believes he committed the murder himself or through the tools of conspiracy. It will be up to the prosecutor to meet the burden of proof for criminal conviction-‘beyond reasonable doubt’ to be able to secure a criminal conviction. If found guilty of Conspiracy to Murder or Murder, a life sentence can be ordered…

At the Accra Central Magistrate Court today, Mavis Nyamaa Quanoo on hearing the charges and arguments from both the prosecutor and the defender’s lawyer adjourned the hearing—and refused to grant BullDog’s bail request. She remanded BullDog into police custody for two weeks to enable the police continue with their investigations.

Interestingly, even though the defender’s lawyer- Gary Nimako argued that the charges levelled against BullDog were frivolous as the prosecutor has not been able to link his client in anyway to the murder of Fennec Okyere, his request for bail was refused.

Despite the fact that Shatta Wale was missing in Court, two members of VVIP –Reggie Rockstone and Zeal (formerly known as Lazzy) together with BullDog’s father-Mr. Hanson, Shatta Wale’s father- Mr. Mensah and others were out there to support BullDog.

Let’s hope for justice for both Fennec and BullDog…

  1. Charged with conspiracy to commit a murder? Who did he conspire with? Did they find the killer? Did he confessed that BullDog is indeed the mastermind? Where is the evidence? The prosecution must come up with a strong case or else their weak text messages evidence will crumble at trial. I am not in any way suggesting that, BullDog couldn’t have done it.

  2. Quincy enough of ur-i-know-all attitude! why do u think there is a court procedure? or u expect them to answer all these questions at jx one Court hearing??? The police suspect him….the prosecutor has pleaded with d court nt to grant bulldog bail and be in police custody to assist in INVESTIGATIONS!!! u can ask ur questions when he’s been sentenced without any proof of his connection to d murder or better still u can join his defense team. pocket lawyer!

    • @Pershia, calm down sweetie. I guarantee you that, they have no evidence linking him to the crime. The only thing they’re looking at is the threatening text messages he sent to the deceased. This gruesome murder is already a tragedy and miscarriage of justice will be a travesty. Knowing how Ghana Police lacks proper investigational tools an innocent person may end up paying for a crime they didn’t commit. My question is, why is the wife still not a person of interest? She discovered his body right? Did they check the deceased phone records to find out who was the last person he talked to? There are more questions than answers.

      • Dude shut the fukk up… Seriously we tired of your cock and bull story on this issue. If you think you know it all why not start your own blog as Chris is doing now? Am sure you don’t even have what it takes to build a site not to talk of legal issues. You are not making this articles interesting at all, Why the hell would u look down upon Ghana police over this criminal act.. Do you know the meaning of threats? Am sure if Fennec were to be your family member you wouldn’t be here typing your senseless comments.

        • @Juicent, U shut the hell up… when legal brains are talking people like you should take a backseat and observe. By the way, I didn’t look down on Ghana Police. what I’m saying is that, the Police handling this particular case are incompetent. They have all the DNA and forensic evidence at the time of the crime but what happened to it? Let me make it clear to you that, I don’t even know who Bulldog was until now. I am not Bulldogs fan neither am I related to him in any way. I want justice for the deceased like everybody else. I just hate the way the Police are putting all their egg in one basket. In a criminal investigation, no stone is left unturned. You can vote my comment down if you want IDGAF….. GTFOH

  4. There is no direct evidence, DNA evidence, forensic evidence or eye witness account placing him at the crime scene. As it stands now, they’re only looking at the circumstantial evidence. But is it enough for a conviction? I don’t think so. The prosecutors will need more evidence to convince the jury that, either Bulldog is the killer or he may have conspired with someone to kill him. You can call me a pocket lawyer all you want but i know what am talking about. The police are in a hurry to convict Bulldog because of the political influence. I couldn’t agree with lawyer Kwame Akuffo more, the police are lazy. The real killer may be hiding in plain sight while an innocent person may be taking the heat. Could Bulldog have done it? Yes. Could the wife have done it? Yes. Could his friends have done it? Yes. Everyone is a suspect at this point. We are all praying for justice for deceased so he can rest in peace.
