Children are usually the most cherished part of any family. Parents often would do anything for their children. Especially between a mum and her children there exists a certain mystical connection, not in all cases but certainly in most. This is because people realise that they are their legacy, what would be left of them in this world when the time comes for them to go to the afterlife.
It seems that is not the case for a couple in Achimota, though, as police have arrested a man and his wife for the murder of their eight year old son.
Comfort Abunero and her husband were picked up by police yesterday after the boy’s grandmother filed a report over the suspicious circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
The boy was living in the North with his grandmother until his mum made a request for him to come down to Accra to live with her and her husband.
Yet the next thing the grandmother knew, she had been informed of the death of her grandson, who had already been buried by his parents.
Police believe the boy was killed over an attempt to have sex with his mother, possibly after being beaten mercilessly; and that the couple buried him near their Dome residence to avoid arousing suspicion.
Details from the Police are scanty now, but this really is an interesting case, particularly considering the deceased is an eight year old who apparently made a ‘move’ on his own mum!
If the boy really did make a move on his mum, how did things escalate from then onwards to the boy’s murder? And considering the police have arrested both the man and his wife one cannot discern who carried out the deed.
Speaking to the press, the Police said the couple has been giving contradictory accounts of what happened to the police. Seeing as they live under the same roof and have lost their only child, this is incredulous and suggests there is more to the story than meets the eye.
The police plan to exhume the corpse to carry out an autopsy to help discern the exact cause of death.
Strange and interesting things are happening in Ghana these days, but this story just might be the strangest of all.
Parents physically abusing their kids is something frowned upon in most parts of the world, in Ghana though it is often used to keep children in line, and culturally it is accepted that a parent has that right to ‘beat’ their child.
Should a parent have that right, and considering this case and several others that never get reported is it time for us to change our outlook on an issue like corporal punishment?
Lord have mercy on us oh….seriously. ..If anything like happens you talk to your child…he is 8yrs old….kid’s likes to experiment cos they are confused…..can’t put one on one together. …that’s why we are meant to be the to explain. ….may his soul rest in peace…..

She’s so not a mom wow… Will never beat any of my kids not even my enemy’s child. Seriously if you ever been to a labor room does when you would truly understand the meaning of Children. They are indeed God’s gift from above, Imagine me beating my son’s to death? God forbid will never even do that. My nanny used to spank my boys when she first moved in from Ghana, got so upset so had to let my husband warned her. I felt the contractions and labor pains. This couples am sure stole the boy at korlebu seriously, nothing shows this bitch called a mom pushed the boy out. they didn’t had any passion or whatsoever. My boys used to touch and fondle me sometimes in a bad way, they are still kids so after one or two warnings they stopped and have never repeated that again since. The woman must have hated the boy so much to kill him. I hope she rot in jail.
