SHOT FIRED: Shatta Wale Blames the Music Industry for Castro’s Death

Published by

The death of Hiplife artiste-Castro De Destroyer, is really bringing up different issues. Spiritualists, musicians, and all sorts of people are adding their voices to the talk of town. We are still waiting on Nana Kwaku Bonsam and the popular ‘goat beard’ fake prophet to speak…

Over 25million Ghanaians (both home and abroad) are paying close attention to what is going on in connection with the death of Castro and his friend, Janet Bandu.

In an era like this, the power of social media cannot be downplayed. The micro blogging sites allow people to freely express their opinions on issues of interest.

One ‘loud’ musician we currently have – Shatta Wale (2014 VGMA Artiste of the Year) – did not hold back his thoughts and opinion in relation to the tragic accident Castro and his friend encountered whilst jet skiing at Ada.

According to Shatta Wale, he will put the blame on the Ghana Music Industry. As he put it out in a facebook post, Shatta wrote the below statement (unedited)

“I DONT BLAME ANYBODY BUT WILL BLAME THIS INDUSTRY THAT MAKES ARTISTE FEEL LIKE POPPERS..THIS INDUSTRY KILLED TERRY BONCHAKA BECUASE HE WASNT PAID GOOD ENOUGH TO EVEN AFFORD A BETTER CAR,NOW CASTRO IS ALSO DEAD ALL BECAUSE HE TRUSTED HIS BROTHER(ASAMOAH GYAN) WHO WOULD HAVE MADE HIM A BETTER STAR IN THE NEAR FUTURE, BECAUSE OUR INDUSTRY WASNT MAKING HIM,HE WAS PUSHING HIMSELF TO THE TOP…MAY OUR GREAT GOD SET PEACE IN YOUR SOUL..WILL ALWAYS LOVE U..#CASTRO”

The long and short of what Shatta Wale is saying is that, if proper measures were put in place in the music industry, Castro would not have depended on Asamoah Gyan to promote his music career—and will not have been close friends or be at Ada with him.

What an absurd assumption. Who said if the industry was great, Castro would not have gone to Ada on his own account—and still go get skiing?

What do you have to say about what Shatta Wale wrote?
