The God hypothesis is one of the most brain twisting ‘propaganda doctrines’ being paraded by those racking in millions of cash, to the detriment of their dogmatic followers who are born in a 21st century but believe salvation for themselves and family is found in some ancient mythical books such as the Bible, Torah and the Quran.
Obviously, the God these Religious Rock Stars sell transcends reason and as such, those who believe in this God must not attempt to apply reason to HIS ways or means of operation. Absurdly, for one to serve such an all Knowing, Merciful, Peaceful, Just and Omnipresent dictator called God, the person must suspend his or her thinking faculty since the best of minds cannot even be used to understand the mystical ways of this God. What then did this God give us goddam brains for—I always ask!
We’ve in the past seen a lot of unimaginable atrocities being committed in the name of Hitler, Stalin and others—and today, God is the new name for those who want to cheat their follow human beings and also for those who want to go on to commit atrocities, backed by a promise of making it first to heaven, despite the non-existence of any evidence that such a place or thing even exists.
Sadly, a lot of people cannot see behind the veil of these Religious Rock Stars with undeserving and valueless titles like, Bishops, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and others. And as such, they spend each time of their lives seeking for what does not exist while neglecting to use their independent thinking faculties to assess what is thrown at them.
It is not a coincidence that the poorest people in the world are found on the continent of Africa, where the God hypothesis reigns, despite the fact that this hypothesis promises good living, wealth, health and peace. But as always, those championing the belief in a divine dictator called God continue to buy expensive cars, private jets and live like Kings while their followers who have become sheep continue to wallow in stupidity and poverty. I am not the one saying this, it is the obvious.
People like me wouldn’t be much bothered with what some people decide to do with their lives—and that includes; if they decide to pray for 23 hours a day, give all their monies to some Men of God or belief in a non-existing heaven brought to them my some false scriptures with no relevance today. But it bothers us when through this same God hypothesis, children are being killed, poverty is being perpetuated, innocent people are being bombed and critical thinking/reasoning is being undermined for absurdity to take over…
Who wants to live in such a world, all because some Religious Rock Stars want to continue with their greedily pursuit of wealth tolerated by a flock that glorifies itself in miracles instead of reality, opt for faith instead of evidence and graciously accept not to use their thinking faculties to question the God hypothesis but just obey.
In the face of the daily emerging evidence, a greater number of the world population especially the less educated and the poor camped in Africa continue to worship a celestial God, just as it was done some far centuries ago, when any sort of development and science hardly existed. Just as people of the ‘Stone Age’ used to look into the sky and pray for divine intervention, some people of today uplift their hands and ignore reality—and continue to ask a heavenly father to intervene in their lives.
And when the intervention is not forthcoming (because there is no heavenly father sitting out there in boredom watching people shout and make noise each day), the Religious Rock Stars are consulted, where they begin to cash in on behalf of the non-existing and man created God.
I yearn for a day where people will understand that, multiple propagation of falsehood does not make it true—including the absurd belief in a God. And begin to realize that, we are what we create, and we owe ourselves the opportunity to use our developed brains to find solutions to our own problems.
I can’t wait for a day when these Religious Rock Stars will come falling from their self-elevated positions —but this is only possible if the masses will begin to use their thinking faculties, instead of putting it on a permanent suspension for the sake of a promised salvation.

Yeah you are right, I grew up committed to a lot of things, including my commitment to the fact that, God makes rain fall and also, that I truly love a girl I cannot live a day without. LOL.

In all honesty, I think the topic on religion should not be talked about on this blog considering how sensitive the subject is. We should be tolerant of others. Every time the subject is brought up, it is either negatively criticizing it or subtly insulting the followers in some way. Religion is sacred to those who practice it, thus disparaging others’ beliefs, you basically insult everything they stand for. It’s a delicate subject to discuss and respect and maturity when expressing personal opinions.
I do not think anyone has the right to limit the scope of discussions and the reach of articles on here—I cannot even see myself ever doing that.
The best you can be granted is what you already have-CHOICE and the best we can do is to help make things easy for you as we’ve always done.

I work with cancer patients right from when they are diagnosed with cancer until I pronounce them dead. I habe noticed that a few of my aethist patients who strongly stand by their aesthist “faith” tend to backslide (or should I say forward slide) into belief in a higher power (God) when they are faced with the notion that there is no cure for their metastatic cancer. I guess my question is why do these ppl suddenly see the need to seek God when they are faced with imminent death.

I cannot answer that for certainty but I can also give you an example of Christopher Hitchens, who became somewhat an atheist evangelist who died as a result of cancer.
In his memoir which I have not had time to read it all, he stated that, even on his hospital bed, he had people writing to him, religious friends and family members as well as hospital workers sort of suggesting that, does he not think it is time to re-think his position on God and accept that there is God. Because his death is imminent and there is nothing to loose if indeed he dies and there is no God, but a lot to gain if there is God and he accepts this before he dies.
Hitchens has always debunked the argument of to loose and to win (belief and not to belief) so he held on his many years of belief developed through his experience, inquiry, search for the truth and above all, in line with strong emerging evidences as opposed to based on ancient scriptures which credibility is of no more than, to say, there is a unicorn out there….
So if I am forced to answer your question, I will say, some of these people may have given in on the nothing to loose and a lot to gain argument IF—and it still remains IF.
And some people do not give in too. Same way I know a lot of people whowere religious and have changed to become atheist or agnostic.
Also, most religious people have transferable ignorance skills. Being an atheist does not mean the person believes for certainty that there is no GOD. What most atheists are including myself and the likes of Richard Dawkins is; it is highly probable there is no GOD. On a scale of 1 to 7, 1 meaning there is God and 7 meaning there is no GOD, I am 6.
It will be absurd for anyone to be 7—say for certainty that there is no GOD. Same way any reasonable person should find it absurd that anyone is 1—-that the person is for sure there is GOD and even knws what this God wants from him or her, and knows that this God cares so much about him or her, cares about who he or she sleeps with and all that.
In life, you cannot prove anything with 100 percent certainty. It is not even 100% certain that you exist as a person—but it is highly probbale you do. This may be too deep and intelligent for a lot of religious zealots and Africans to understand. The mathematics may be too complex…LOL
My question to you is, why is it research of over 100 years suggests that, people will higher intelligence do not believe in God—highly likely to believe in God? There is something going on here.
