Nigerian Pastor Says There Can Be No Justification for Abortion: Even Life Threatening Situations

WTF
WTF

Sometimes people take unreasonable stances on issues due to their indoctrination; stances that defy all the laws of logic and reasoning.

There are a few instances where beliefs override reason, and people have stuck to their beliefs till they get to a point of no return. Instances like that can yield disastrous results.

That’s the road being encouraged by Nigerian pastor E.A Adeboye, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). According to him, there can be no justification for abortion.

Doctors sometimes recommend abortion in situations where the birth might be threatening to the health of either the mother or the baby, or both.

Adeboye though says even that cannot justify a Christian having an abortion. If you believe in God, you should go ahead and refuse the abortion, and a miracle would come your way.

E.A Adeboye made the remarks through his Special Assistant Johnson Odesola, at a recent monthly prayer and thanksgiving service organised for pregnant women at his church’s headquarters.

Daily Post Reports….

“You can prevent pregnancy but once the egg and the sperm meet and is formed; anything that suggests that it should be terminated is against God’s words. The option of abortion is an option preferred by medical professionals but as Christians, we believe in miracles and that God is able to take away every problem. There is nothing God cannot do even if the life of the woman is at stake; pray for a divine intervention and God who created the universe knows what to do in any situation we find ourselves as we look up to him in faith,”

I’m sorry but that kind of thinking is outdated and sets a very bad precedent. We keep encouraging these unreasonable attitudes to our congregants, who are easily influenced and would likely follow this advice should they ever land in such waters, leading them straight to their graves.

These kinds of beliefs, taking outdated ideas to the extreme is what sometimes lead to us often moving backwards instead of forwards. You can believe in miracles all you want, but if you are willing to go the hospital for malaria treatment, why should you then turn away the hospital’s help when a far more serious issue is at stake?

After all, God helps those who help themselves…

Some people refuse blood transfusions on this same principle, another position I struggle to wrap my head around.
