Ignorance Clothed in Superstition is A Disease | Ghost Possessed Girl Causes Uproar in Ghana

Superstition
Superstition

Yesterday while my two friends were at Costa Coffee in East London discussing their new start-up—a mobile app which would help users find their missing keys with the aid of a special key holder, somewhere in Ghana, a ghost had possessed a 12 year old girl, so they claim.

Increasingly, these ridiculous and superstitious stories which somewhat showcase the over-reaching ignorance of some Ghanaians continue to be reported/take place—and the problem is, some people actually believe in these absurdities.

According to a Daily Graphic publication, the “ghost of a 29-year old man, Eugene Nana Asamoah was said to have possessed a 12-year girl only named as Jennifer at Essikado, creating uproar and accusation upon counter accusation at Essikado.”

First of all, the argument that a ghost exists is as lame just as to say there is a flying spaghetti monster circling the universe is preposterous—let alone, for such a ghost to take over the body of some 12 year old girl.

The publication says “the deceased was said to have died a few months ago in a mysterious circumstances and afterwards the ghost of Asamoah possessed Jennifer and changed the accent of the girl to reflect his. She mentioned four persons, who happened to be the relatives of the deceased, as being behind his death”.

It seems we’ve not heard of delusion and mental illness in our part of the world where people just believe anything—and attribute a lot of such things to ghosts. Rational thinking is not part of our daily food ingredients…

Few months ago, it was reported that a bird which was flying in the air fell flat and turned into an old woman in Nigeria—a clear example of the nonsense some people believe. I called it, instant evolution.

Yesterday, it was again reported that, a certain young Ghanaian is 100% sure, supported by his pastor and family that, he died and was buried—and then he went to hell for a month where he saw Michael Jackson and others.

Of course, these people are not normal—so are those who believe in such stories, grounded in superstition and complete lack of rational thinking.

Before we know, this young girl will be beaten to death for being a devil/witch or given some ghost liberating concoction to drink—which will kill her or destroy her intestines.

  1. This publication is absolute rubbish. The fact that something is beyond your comprehension and outside the realm of scientific evaluation does not mean that it can not be true. Do you claim to know everything in this universe? Every subject is a specialty and has its experts. There are people who are experts in matters of spirituality. Why don’t you consult them rather than pretending that you know it all?
