The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC)-Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia who made headlines for wearing a fur coat which looks like that of a woman as part of President Mahama’s entourage to Germany has spoken—saying, Ghanaians are those making a big deal about his coat since no white person even spoke about his ‘beautiful’ coat.

According to Asiedu Nketia, the fur coat which has become the talk of Ghana was bought by his wife-Vida Asiedu Nketia when she visited Canada. Going to Germany, he knew it was going to be cold and since he was just going to be there for 3 days, he decided to go with that coat, he said.

Speaking to Kumasi based Hello FM, Asiedu Nketia wondered what the big deal is; since he was in Germany to work for the betterment of Ghana and to attend a fashion show or to showcase his sense of style.

  1. Dear Mr Asiedu Nketia,

    News flash! How you dress or the clothes you wear speaks volumes of who you are and what you are about before you even open your mouth.
    You went to Germany as an ambassador. You represented Ghana. So whatever You did, said or wore did have a huge impact on how other people (countries) perceive as to be – backwards and uncouth. If that was your aim, then you did a really good job at portraying us as the ignorant folks they think we are. Not only did you make your country Ghana look stupid but also you looked ridiculous in that silly female fur coat. you made two bold statements unknowingly Mr Asiedu;

    1, You do not care about or have any respect for animal rights. animals are cruelly killed to make fur coats. (is that fur coat even real?) I hope PETA gets a hold of you.

    2, You are gay or a tranny because only gays and trannies would pull this off.

  2. How can a delegation consisting of people who are dressed funny as if they are part of a circus party be taken serious by a country like Germany??

    The appearance speaks volumes and people with personality should be the ones to embark on national assignment of sort not any ignorant babbler like that man. if he travelled on his own for his personal biz, that wouldn’t ve been my problem at all but he represented Ghana which I’m part of as a taxpayer so I feel really ashamed on his behave.
    Geez, I wonder what went through the German delegation’s mind.

  4. Congrats to him. As a public official who is in a foreign country to represent my dear motherland should be mindful of his appearance. Yet this man has the arrogance and nerve to insult the entire populace with this ludicrous statement. Regardless of what he thinks, i am not the one who has become the laughing stock of the entire world on BBC. Food to know he is really trending.

  5. This is the typical Ghanaian attitude. The lack of honesty and acceptance of their ignorance. This palm wine tapper made a mistake. First by not asking those in the know, whether the coat was for men or women. For Christ sake, Hannah Tetteh was part of the retinue. He could have asked. Then he compounds his stupidity by putting it on and when confronted, claims it doesn’t matter. It does matter, Mr Anopheles. It matters because you were there to represent Ghana not to embarrass it. But you will know that if you had a scintilla of sense and decency. You are a clear example of what is wrong with the country. Ignorant and arrogant people occupying positions of power.

    • A standing ovation to you Sir. Spot on. I wish majority of Ghanaians will follow this thinking, it will enable us to get rid of those useless public officials who are hindering our progress as a nation.

  6. Seriously, must we turn Asiedu Nketia’s wardrobe malfunction into an issue of national embarrassment? If Ghanaians didn’t make a big deal out of it, it wouldn’t have been noticed by the international media. This issue has been blown out of proportion. And I personally see nothing wrong with it. His female coat will not in any way turn the German investors away. I would rather be worried if he spent tax payers money to buy an expensive coat. The political gimmickry must stop.

      • Hahahaha….. I knew a blockhead like you will come and spew nonsense. Can’t I have a different opinion? To some of you everything is about political party. FYI, I don’t care about Ghanaian politics. It just annoys me that, upon all the problems the country is facing- people are here talking about a politician wearing a female coat.

      Dear King,

      i hereby refer to your last statements. is this what you will call call political gimmickry? dude? who doesn’t know General Mosquito is corrupt? To me, stealing additional 50 euros or even 150 euros to buy a better coat for such an occasion wouldn’t take anything away from him. neither will it add anything to his personality as a very corrupt person. ”we didn’t go there to display fashion”………….. so the president hereby went there to display fashion. dude, sometimes we need to look at things critically devoid of our political darlings and affiliations. This man did not go there on a private visit but as a Ghanaian public officer(which of course i even have a problem with, cos i don’t know the public office he occupies in Ghana). he has clearly embarrassed us and a disgrace to the party to which hes the chief scribe. As if our world cup fiasco wasn’t enough, once again, this country will be ridiculed by the international community.

      I SIGN OFF. U MAY REPLY. THAT’S UR PROBLEM

  8. is so sad when some supposedly “respectable” elders of our beloved country make such a disgusting statement and think there is nothing wrong with it. when you leave the shores of Ghana and realize how most of the developed countries perceive our country and Africa at large to be, its really saddens my heart. i remember doing a project about my country, my professor and colleaques really wanted to know more about Ghana. wherever you are, you represent your country, for him to display such an ignorant behavior i really have nothing to say to him. Really don’t see this to be funny.
