30 Jeep Cherokees for Black Star Players & Management | Costing $76000 Each?

Several reports have it that, as part of placing second at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2015) which we spent 8 million dollars to participate while aiming to win the ultimate prize of 1.5 million dollars, the Black Stars and the management members of the team would each receive a Jeep Cherokee—and the above photo circulating around seems to indicate that the vehicles are ready.

This gift for the Black Stars (though not confirmed yet) comes after each of the 23 players has already received $85,000 for their three week toil serving the people of Ghana in Equatorial Guinea—with further $25,000 each promised by the President of Ghana-John Dramani Mahama.

Apparently each brand new Jeep Cherokee cost $76,000 and would be Tannick Automobile, a company located on the Ashaiman-Tema motorway. The company is known for importing Jeep and Chrysler vehicles into the country.

Asempa Sports has reported that, the company has already supplied seven of the vehicles and Sports Minister-Mahama Ayariga has already taken delivery of his Jeep Cherokee vehicle.

For the players who are out of the country, their assigned family members would have to pick up their vehicle—and this comes at a time Ghanaians are dying in darkness-Dumsor Dumsor.

Ghana as a country seems to be really rich, Qatar may not even do this—yet we have so many public servants who have not been paid for many months and those lucky to be receiving some salaries are receiving peanuts.

What a proud country Ghana has become…

  2. eii africa we lack common sense oo..no no no..no good water no electricity no good education or proper planning for children yet waste resources on useless stuff. i hate to african at times no because of my skin color but by the thinking faculty of those leaders who represent us and even we that go out and vote them in power. until when will african leaders learn common sense. i shed tears in my heart . what good roads are they going to drive these cars. our leaders are more than animals excuse my wording but that;s the truth.
