OUR BIGGEST PROBLEM: Most Ghanaian Electorates Vote BLINDLY…

What can a T-shirt do for you, what can a small amount of Cedis do for you, and what can beauty or looks do for you when the nation is in danger? This are the same reasons why some Ghanaians vote for some presidential and parliamentary candidates and I find them wrong.

I have seen and heard from several people about why they vote for some candidates and they simply say to me, “oh, he is cute, look at his lips, he is handsome”, some say “ I think he got money”, others go on to say “ I love the T-shirts he distributes to us and some other trivial things which does not and cannot add to the development of the nation but brings disaster.

Furthermore, I ask myself about what these people are going to do with the money, T-Shirts and handsome looks of these candidates when war breaks out. And yes I know the answer to my question, that those items are not armors or any form of protection that is going to keep them safe, the money is only going to last for a moment, the T-shirts are only going to be worn-out, and they are going to have to die if the conflicts or the nation gets to that point. And most importantly, these candidates have money and would definitely flee to other countries with their kids to escape any form of danger that they themselves caused.

I would implore on all Ghanaians to vote wisely when it is elections time, because there are so many characteristics that we should watch out for in a candidate before we choose to vote for him, some people just vote for someone because his or her dad supports a particular party and he is just voting for whoever that is contesting and that is a big “WRONG”.

Some candidates just go about saying some things irrelevant to the nations development and some of us actually do know they are bad candidates but yet, go ahead and vote for them, and when the nation goes wrong, they sit in their houses and talk through their nose complaining of the situation at hands.

Please learn to look for the best candidates and vote for them—this is one of the main reasons we are in a big national crisis and if we do the same during the 2015 elections, we shouldn’t expect a different national result in terms of development.

  1. Nice article, first of all educating the masses on their rights to vote and rights to join any political party of their choice is supposed to be the work of the National Commission for Civic Education(NCCE) and ministry of information together with EC but I guess these institutions are far from the main reasons they were established.Secondly I have always talked about the need for us as a country to have a non partisan national agenda.aregadless of what party is in power there should be laid down visions, plans and projects. Why is the west so progressive and full of positive projections,is all due to the fact that development plans are all well laid down and leadership are held accountable if they go against the nations agenda

  2. Is this an NPP sponsored article??, lol just kidding, but that is the tactics ruling governments use, they have managed to poison peoples minds along tribal lines mostly, and therefore will tag anyone who criticizes them as a member or someone paid by the opposition, the issue then becomes a polarized one and the government continue with the exthortion and corruption, until we get to a time when the people of Ghana become ‘wiser’, this situation will continue.
