Her story shocked the world, the young girl (just 15) who was trying her best to raise awareness about the difficulties girls like her faced in accessing education in her country under an oppressive regime.

Somehow these brutes felt so threatened by a 15 year old, they felt the need to make an assassination attempt. She survived, and has since gone on to earn global fame and recognition, a Nobel Prize, and is doing more domiciled in the UK than she would ever have been able to if she had stayed home stuck under the regime.

10 of those believed responsible for the attacks have been jailed, receiving life sentences, according to the BBC. Details surrounding the trial remain sketchy, especially as these are military trials. Reports also say the man who was initially identified as the main suspect is not on the list of those jailed.

However the man ultimately responsible, Taliban leader Mullah Fazlullah, is still at large. He’s holed up somewhere in Afghanistan, bringing more death and destruction under the name of God.
