Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson who has recently turned a social media campaigner and activist due to the incessant blackouts Ghanaians are facing under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama is organizing a vigil.
The vigil, dubbed ‘#DumsorMustStop Vigil’ is a move by Yvonne Nelson to get other frustrated Ghanaians to put pressure on Ghana’s ‘dead goat’ President – John Mahama to solve the current energy crisis in the country.
In two separate Facebook post, Yvonne Nelson has confirmed that the vigil will take place on May 16, 2015. Attached to the posts was a letter written by her lawyers to the Police, informing them of the upcoming event.

The #dumsormuststop vigil is on Saturday 16th May! Join me and other citizens of GHANA ???Strictly non-partisan. This is simply a discharge of your civic responsibility to God and country. This is for the many people who have lost their jobs because of dumsor. This is for the many people who have lost their lives because of dumsor. This is for the school children who have to study with lanterns and torches to write exams. This is for the sick people at the hospitals who have to endure dumsor on their sick beds. This is for the many patients who are unable to receive efficient healthcare because of dumsor. This is for you and I and the unborn generation of this great nation.

You’re welcome.
She’s earned my respect and I pray that her effort is not in vain. It’s the right move forward. All of us Ghanaians( in the diaspora and in Ghana) need to come together and support this cause. Let’s forget about our tribal difference for this because at the end of the day, we’re all Ghanaians who call Ghana our home.
