Ooops it has happened again! Three flop albums in a row…
It has been revealed that Ciara’s new album ‘Jackie’ will likely flop. The album, which is her sixth studio was released (on Monday) to rave reviews from music critics, but sadly the album is likely to be a commercial disaster just like its predecessors, ‘Ciara (album)’ and ‘Basic Instinct’.
According to the ever reliable HitsDailyDouble.com, the album is will sell between 18,000 and 22,000 copies.
While we are sad that the album is not selling as we wanted, it is still quality over numbers for us. For us, Ciara delivered with this album and so we don’t care about numbers at all. Jackie is one of the best R&B records we’ve heard in this decade.
However, we have to criticize Cici for taking too long to promote such a solid album. I don’t know why she only promoted the album on the day after its release. Promotion for Jackie has been really poor so I was kinda not surprise that it flopped.
Now three consecutive flop albums is such a bad look for Ciara. First, when Basic instinct performed badly, we thought it was blip, then when her self-titled album was released, she blamed it on her then label Jive records. So who is to be blamed for the poor performance of ‘Jackie’? Her team or Ciara herself?
people don’t buy music like they used to.
It’s really hard to compete in a Beyoncé, rihanna world but it’s a shame because it seems like ciara has a lot of followers. She has hit singles just not hit albums…so people are most likely to buy the odd one or two records from her and that’s that.
