GC Exclusive: Shocking, Appalling & Pathetic | See the State of the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra…

If Ghana’s first president –Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was alive today, he would have regretted making this statement; “The black man is capable of managing his own affairs.” The activities of the black man only proves that he’s only capable of mismanaging his own affairs and even that of others that have been left in his care.

Ghana is indeed a country where those in charge of certain facilities behave as if they have never heard the word maintenance in their entire lives before. Driving or walking through town, you will come across several facilities that have been abandoned. One of such places is the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra.

The 12-acre amusement park which used to be the hub of all entertainment activities for children and adults in Accra is in a very terrible and distasteful state.

GhanaCelebrities.Com visited the place and what we saw was appalling. The park is being subjugated by unkempt weeds. As if that isn’t enough, none of the amenities is working at the place. The trains and see-saws are corroded and in a messed up state. Whoever is in charge of the place ought to sit up and develop the place.

Our leaders have totally failed us and the generation to come—they are able to afford and take their children abroad to enjoy such basic facilities but leave nothing for the ordinary Ghanaian child. Where do we take our children?

Just a small park, we can’t even maintain it?

If you think we are exaggerating this, take a look at the pictures…

  1. WTF is wrong with us as Ghanaians. Common park for children to play too we can’t maintain and keep it? What is wrong with our brains? Do we drink kerosene and acid each morning or what? So where do children go and play? Any of those metals if cut a child will kill the person straight up. Damn

  3. I feel so sad to be a Ghanaian looking at just these photos. Soon our whole community will turn this. Come to Europe and see how they maintain their parks and state facilities. We are really pathetic group of people

  4. I have just returned from Ghana and the entire place is truly shocking. I visited certain areas in Accra that resemble the shanties in Lagos. I never thought Ghana could be as filthy as Nigeria. But it is. I am certain the persons responsible for the upkeep of the park, collect their monthly salary but barely show up for work there. That is the problem with the nation. It has become a den of thieves. Everyone is stealing except the private businessmen. People collect monthly salary but don’t work. They go to church to pay from their ill-gotten money, tithes and offer to buy cement, polytanks, windows and toilets for their church and yet will not lift a finger to do what they are paid to do. Yet they believe god is blessing them. That is the most insulting part. In Ghana the person who finds your lost or misplaced belongings believes he/she is blessed. Your suffering is his/her blessing. How does one deal with such criminal mental state?
Truth telling has no place in Ghana. If you attempt it, you will be called names. Efua Sutherland park, much like the rest of Ghana is infested with vermins and vile creatures. The kind that doesn’t believe in working for their pay and worships theft.
