Sidney is among the few controversial musicians who have emerged in Ghana. He is often known for his outspokenness on issues.

When Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson, recently launched her #DumsorMustStop campaign to put pressure on the Ghanaian government to solve the energy crisis, some of her colleague celebrities showed interest in being part of the campaign. One of such celebrities is Sidney.

Even though organizers of the campaign are currently facing a whole of challenges, they are still keeping their cool to get things done at the right time.

It was first announced that the #DumsorMustStop vigil will take place on Legon campus on the evening of May 16, 2015. A statement was issued by authorities of the University of Ghana saying they never granted permission to Yvonne Nelson and her celebrity friends to use their facility for the vigil.

A second venue, which is Bojour (formerly known as ON-THE-RUN) was announced as the converging place but the owners of the Total Filling Station close to the venue turned their back on organisers – saying they cannot use the place.

The latest development is that the Ga Traditional Council has petitioned the Police to sojourn the vigil. According to the chiefs, there is a ban on noisemaking since the Homowo festival is approaching.

It is in view of this that musician Sidney says the Ga chiefs should ban the use of generators in Accra as well if they think the vigil constitutes to noisemaking in the capital.

“Although the vigil falls within the ban on noise making, will the #DumsorMustStop vigil make noise than the use of generators, now that it has become a seeming ‘light-saviour’ to some Ghanaians? Or the use of generators will also be ban during the ‘Alagb3me’ period?” he rhetorically asked.

In an interview with AmaLarbieAfrica Sidney disclosed, “Some of my friends in the ruling told me point blank when Yvonne’s campaign hit international fronts that the noise making about the power crisis and the intended vigil to be held is all waste of time, hence, will do their possible best to stop it from going on.”
