This guy shouldn’t be surprised to see the secret service at his door at midnight one day.

Kiprono Matagei is a young Kenyan lawyer who’s already gained some notoriety in his country as he tried to have the Kenyan Supreme court to swear in the Vice-President as substantive president during a period he was acting in the absence of the President Uhuru Kenyatta.

And now he’s in the news again, except this time he’s trying to get married to a (juvenile) member of America’s first family. Kiprono has eyes on Malia Obama, and is ready to pay 50 cows, 70 sheep, and 30 goats as a bride price, according to the Kenya Digest.

“I got interested in her in 2008. As a matter of fact, I haven’t dated anyone since and promise to be faithful to her. I have shared this with my family and they are willing to help me raise the bride price”

Which is disturbing, because Malia was 10 years old in 2008; Kiprono says he hopes President Obama would bring her along when he travels to Kenya for a state visit in July.

“If my request is granted, I will not resort to the cliché of popping champagne. Instead, I will surprise her with mursik , the traditional Kalenjin sour milk, as an indication that she is my queen”

“I will propose to her on a popular hill in Bureti near my father’s land where leaders and warriors are usually crowned. Ours will be a simple life. I will teach Malia how to milk a cow, cook ugali and prepare mursik like any other Kalenjin woman”

Malia Obama is 16, set to turn 17 on July 4, and this guy is supposed to be some young, bright, lawyer. I don’t know what’s wrong with some of us Africans.
