South African Paralympian Oscar Pistorius will be released from prison on August 20 having served just 10 months for culpable homicide in the killing of his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp—a family member is reported to have thrown out this rumour.

Oscar Pistorius was convicted in October 2014 after a 7 month trial and  he is serving a 5 year prison sentence but it looks like, he will be out on parole soon. But South African prosecutors who won their bid to challenge the culpable homicide conviction and see a murder conviction may soon go after him when he is released.

Oscar’s release from prison just after 10 months would likely spark anger among some South Africans, especially family members of Reeva Steenkamp.

Just last month Miss Steenkamp’s mother spoken out against Pistorius’s bid for early release.

June Steenkamp told her local paper in South Africa that ‘I don’t think it’s a good idea to let him back in society so quickly.’

‘He shot my daughter through that door where she had no space to move or defend herself,’ she told The Citizen.

‘One of the bullets blew her brains out, it is disgusting what he did to her…10 months is just not enough’, the 68-year-old added.
