After having been together for 27 years, George Kirby has finally married his sweetheart-Doreen Luckie—and they’ve become the world’s oldest newly wed.

George Kirby was 103, and his wife Doreen Luckie 91, when they got hitched earlier today in Eastbourne–the ceremony was witnessed by close friends and family.

This makes them the ‘oldest’ newlyweds, beating the previous record held by French couple Francois Fernandez and Madeleine Francineau, who had a combined age of 191 years.

Speaking on the wedding, Doreen said she and George had no regrets about not marrying earlier. “We didn’t want to bother about marriage before but eventually we did it,” she said.

When asked how he proposed, George said, “I didn’t get down on one knee, because I don’t think I would have been able to get back up.”
