Novak Djokovic won comfortably in four sets to pick up his ninth Grand Slam title, beating Roger Federer 7-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3.

The 28 year old Serb recovered well after losing a tight second set tie breaker, but remained comfortable throughout, suffering no break of serve.
33 year old Federer had been hoping to win his 18th Grand Slam title, but despite playing some of his best tennis throughout the tournament, came unstuck against an implacable Djokovic.

Novak thus wins his third Wimbledon, adding up to his five US Open and 1Australian to leave him with nine Grand Slams crowns overall.

Federer can try for that elusive 18th slam at next month at Flushing Meadows, but on this form nobody is going to get past the player affectionately called ‘The Djoker’.

The women’s single title was won on Saturday by Serena Williams, defeating young Spaniard Garbine Muguruza 6-4, 6-4 on Centre Court.
