Louisiana Theatre Shooter

A 58 year old man described as a ‘drifter’ shot up a movie theatre in Lafayette, Louisiana, killing two people and injuring nine others.

Movie goers had convened for the screening of Amy Schumer’s new romantic comedy, ‘Trainwreck’, when the tragedy struck. As the theatre was dimmed after previews for the movie to commence, John Russel Houser stood up, pulled out his handgun, and started shooting indiscriminately.

Houser was able to kill two and injure nine, before turning the gun on himself as police rushed the theatre.

One of the wounded died on the scene, whilst the other died later on in hospital. No motive for the shooting has been established at this point.

This killing follows on the heels of the Dylan Roof shooting, as well as radical Islamist Mohammed Abdulazeez shooting up two US military bases.
