The Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon eliminated Ghana’s Black Queens from the Olympic Games qualifiers with an away goals aggregate victory.

Ghana secured an impressive 1-1 draw in the first leg in Yaounde, but was unable to consolidate that gain. A 2-2 draw means Cameroon qualified on the away goals rule despite the 3-3 aggregate score line.

Samira Sulemana gave Ghana the early lead after connecting from a corner, but Cameroon drew level soon after.

Portia Boakye restored Ghana’s lead in the 2nd half, and for large swathes of the action thereafter Ghana was the better side. But they were unable to deliver the final blow, and it left them open to the sucker punch from Cameroon, which was delivered by Agnes Nkada in the 83rd minute.

The defeat eliminated Ghana from the qualification series for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, whilst Cameroon move ahead to take on Cote d’Ivoire.
