Black Stars defender Baba Abdul Rahman is on the verge of joining Ghana’s growing premier league contingent after current club Augsburg agreed a deal with English Premier League champions Chelsea.

Reports indicate a £14m fee has been agreed between the two clubs, with significant bonus clauses inserted that could see the deal rise to £20m.

Rahman had already agreed personal terms with Chelsea, and now the only hurdle being his club holding out for a bigger fee has been surmounted.

Rahman has seen his stock rise since joining Augsburg, consistently being judged as one of the best left backs in the German league, one of the best leagues in the world.

At Chelsea, Rahman would face competition from Spaniard Cesar Azpilicueta for the left back slot. Let’s hope his move does not turn out quite as sour as that of Christian Atsu.

The move is subject to a medical, which would be conducted later this week.
