The Interior Ministry of Ghana has stated that there will be more tight security at the Ringway Assemblies of God Church where President Mahama and his family as well as the Chief Justice worship.
The move comes off after the capture in the congregation a 36-year-old man, Charles Antwi, who was in control of a firearm two weeks back.
He has subsequently been sentenced to 10 years in jail.
In the interim, human rights legal counselor, Francis Sosu, is in court challenging the 10-year prison term given Charles Antwi.
He says there is the requirement for a psychiatric assessment of his client.
“It is a lesson not only for the church but wherever the president goes from now onwards we would ensure that security is tightened and the life of the president is not endangered.
“Nobody is going to leave anything to chance. Security in the church and wherever the president goes will be tightened,” the Minister of Interior, Mr. Mark Woyongo said in a statement.
