I love Lydia Forson. She’s smarter than the average Ghanaian showbiz personality, and has a fair grip over the art of satire.

I didn’t expect her to go with Yvonne Nelson on this, which every fair minded person would realise is just a silly, attention seeking stunt.

And of course she didn’t, the actress wrote one of her lovely sarcastic social commentary pieces, mocking Yvonne for her words. Lydia claimed she’s heartbroken by the snub, and that she cannot do anything but is just stuck in bed.

She posted the open letter on her website, titled ‘Mr.President, I’m HEARTBROKEN’ …

“I’m very hurt that I didn’t make it on President Mahama’s list. I’m heartbroken even.

Regardless of our personal issues I still watch and enjoy him on TV when he comes on.

Why, why why?

I can’t eat, sleep or even manage to drag myself out of bed because of this.

I don’t wish this kind of heartbreak on anyone.

I’m even losing weight over it….ok that’s a lie, my butts not going anywhere.

But I’ve never felt so rejected.’

Anyway, its fine I know my broken heart will be alright.

One day someone will come along and tell me I’m their favourite actress…”

A few days ago, President John Dramani Mahama in an interview talked about Ghana’s showbiz and he mentioned Shirley Frimpong Manso, John Dumelo, Lil Win and several names as his favourites in their various spheres of entertaining career.

Subsequently, Yvonne Nelson in an interview stated that “John Dumelo supports him [President Mahama] publicly so I mean it is cool. I believe he has got his favourite, everyone has their favourite and if you are in the entertainment industry and you are putting Ghana on the map, the president should love you because you are doing something for Ghana. We are all putting Ghana on the map so I believe the President should love all of us because we are all trying for Ghana.”

She added, “For me, I want to see Ghana there and that’s a cool thing…the President should mention more names to encourage us.”

“He should mention names like Sarkodie, Jackie Appiah, Myself, Majid Michel, John Dumelo. These are people putting Ghana on the map. We need that kind of encouragement from our leaders,” the actress stressed.
