Emmanuel Adebayor Sheyi has been dealing with a lot of personal baggage for a while now. It is a serious family issue that has led to his revealing he’s felt suicidal once and his brother actually attempting to commit suicide.

And it has greatly affected his professional career as well. His current club, Tottenham Hotspur, have been trying to offload him for a while now. His performances have dipped, leading to the club freezing him out. However, his £100,000 a week wages meant he had to find a new club as you cannot have someone earning that kind of money and just sitting on their bum doing nothing.

Yet after negotiating a deal for the Togolese to move to Villa Park, Adebayor remained reluctant to sign the deal. Twice he held up the deal, because he apparently was waiting for a sign from God, for him to know it was the right move. Apparently he got that advice from his pastor.

The UK’s Telegraph reveals that the forward signed the papers for the Villa deal to be made official, but changed his mind again on the advice of his pastor.

This means he’s stuck at Tottenham till January, and would continue earning the astronomical amount without doing any work. It’s almost like that played a part in the decision his pastor encouraged him to take…
