US County Court Clerk Who Refused To Issue Marriage Licences To Gay Couples Released From Jail

The now infamous Kim Davis has been released from jail after the Judge who sent her in there ordered for her release.

However, her freedom would be revoked if she takes any steps to stop her deputies, who have agreed to issue licences, from doing their jobs.

Davis was jailed for refusing to issue marriage licences to same seks couples despite the US Supreme Court ruling legalising the union.

After Judge Bunning ordered her to issue the licenses and she refused, he jailed her for contempt indefinitely.

However, Bunning issued an order Tuesday for Davis to be released. Her deputies have been issuing licences during her time in jail and the judge says she would remain a free person so long as she does not stop them from issuing the licences.

“The Court is therefore satisfied that the Rowan County Clerk’s Office is fulfilling its obligation to issue marriage licenses to all legally eligible couples, consistent with the US supreme court’s holding that same-s*x marriage was legal.

“If Defendant Davis should interfere in any way with their issuance, that will be considered a violation of this Order and appropriate sanctions will be considered,” Bunning wrote in the two-page order.
