President of the Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, Pemapem Yaw Kagbrese V, has called on the general public to desist from any unsanitary acts that may contribute to disease outbreaks.

Pemapem Yaw Kagbrese who is also the Omanehene of Yeji Traditional Area, entreated the people of the Brong Ahafo Region to embrace the National Sanitation Day Exercise instituted by the Local Government and Rural Development Ministry to curb unhealthful conditions from their environment.

He said combating unsanitary conditions from the country is a collective responsibility and one needs not to be told to do so—and called all stakeholders to up their game in fighting against filth in the country.

The Yeji Manhene told GhanaCelebrities.Com’s reporter-Kofi Oppong Kyekyeku after the National Sanitation Day Exercise held in the Brong Ahafo Regional capital, Sunyani that; “He is overwhelmed by the greater number of people who came out to patronized in the exercise on Saturday, 5th 2015.”

Sunyani-manhene Nana Bosuma Asonkeraweri recounted that Sunyani as a city is always clean and that has made it to be acclaimed as the cleanest city in Ghana; but the people must to more in order for the city to enjoy its incontestable status won over the years.

Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Alhaji Collins Dauda averred that; he was very impressed with the great turn out and also the fact that people with disabilities were seen partaking the exercise was warming.

He advised the people of the region to keep up with their enthusiastic spirit towards communal labour—in order to fight against diseases.

The Ministry supplied about 10,000 waste bins and other sanitation logistics to be placed at public places in all the districts/municipalities in the region ahead of the exercise.

The National Sanitation Day exercise was launched last year under the auspices of the Local Government Ministry to rid the country off filth and unsanitary conditions—it takes place on the first Saturday of each month.
