Black Queens Beat Cameroon To Win Gold At The All Africa Games

Black Queens win gold

The Black Queens of Ghana pipped the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon 1-0 in the final of the women’s football competition at the ongoing All Africa Games in Brazzaville, Congo.

Portia Boakye struck a very late goal to break the deadlock in a tense game that was a repeat of the 2011 final, a game Ghana lost.

Boakye scored on the rebound after the Queen’s Agnes Aduako had missed a penalty.

Boakye’s late strike gave the Queens sweet revenge and added their names to the list of winners of the gold medal in the history of the All Africa Games. Cameroon and Nigeria are the only other sides to have achieved that.

Their performance is in stark contrast to the male team, who performed abysmally and were deservedly kicked out in the first round.
