A retired footballer, who once played for Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs and the senior national team The Black Stars, is getting ready to make his grand debut in politics.

Justice Boison, has picked his forms to contest to become the parliamentary nominee for the NDC in the Cape Coast North constituency.

Boison, popularly known as “Ala”, in his hey days played for Cape Coast Venomous Vipers, Sekondi Hasaacas and Ebusua Dwarfs as a defender. He earned a call up to the Black Stars in 1992, and also turned out for Dynamo Bucharest in Romania.

Since retiring, Boison has made forward strides, earning an Executive MBA in Finance from the University of Ghana Business School. He is now planning to give back by building a career in politics.

He believes he can contribute towards improving the lives of the youth in his constituency, especially by encouraging them to take education as seriously as they can.

He told the Daily Graphic he is hoping he can become a role model for others to follow.

“I have been a footballer and have played in the Ghanaian league for several years but I have improved myself and progressed on the educational ladder up to the tertiary level and I think other sports personalities can look up to me as a role model”

That is the main reason his story is worth telling. Far too many times we see our former sportsmen wallowing in poverty because they did not prepare for life after they retire; and the sportsman’s professional life is a very short one.

The NDC primaries are slated for Saturday, Novermber 7 2015.
