Police Officer Killed By Armed Robbers in Ho-Volta Region of Ghana

A police officer has been shot dead in the Volta regional capital, Ho.

According Daily Graphic report, General Constable Emmanuel Nii Atseku of the Rapid Development force at the Volta Regional Police Command was shot dead whilst guarding a fuel station in Ho by some alleged armed robbers on Tuesday.

The allege robbers reportedly overpowered the officer by hitting him with a cement block and later shot him dead.

“The robbers, though unsuccessful in their operations, escaped with the policeman’s weapon,” the Newspaper reported.

Some of the police officers, who spoke to the Paper after the death of General Constable Nii Atseku, complained of inadequate protective gadgets to use in their line of duty.

“This is the situation; a policeman goes to work in the morning and again in the evening, with very little rest.”

“When this happens, fatigue sets in and we are unable to perform properly,” One of them claimed that the police were being overstretched.

The body of the late officer has been deposited at the Police Hospital in Accra, and the police administration is yet to make any comment about this sad issue at hand.
