The Fifa President is currently facing calls for his immediate resignation as investigations into alleged corrupt practices of football’s governing body continues.
The downward spiral began after US officials indicted fourteen Fifa officials, leading to calls for Blatter’s prosecution. He has managed to stay insulated so far, until last week when Swiss officials announced they were opening criminal investigations against him.
This has forced four of Fifa’s biggest sponsors to call for the resignation of the 79 year old. Coca Cola, Macdonald’s, Visa, and Budweiser, all made the calls for the Swiss’ resignation on Friday.
“Every day that passes, the image and reputation of Fifa continues to tarnish,” Coca Cola said in a statement.
“Fifa needs comprehensive and urgent reform, and that can only be accomplished through a truly independent approach.”
Sepp Blatter continues to resist the calls, saying his resignation “would not be in the best interest of Fifa”
