Sierra Leonean-Nigerian singer and member of the Mavin Records, Hadiza Blell popularly known as Di’ja has vowed to use her mother language into her music.

She said, she will do everything within her power to always infuse her Hausa, Lebanese and Sierra-Leone culture into her music.

“I usually wear my traditional garments to perform, and I constantly put my language in everything I do.”

“Don’t forget that Yaro, the title of one of my songs, is an Hausa word as well. I’m not only Hausa, I’m also partly Lebanese and Sierra-Leonean as well, so I try my best to bring my cultures from my father and mother’s sides to bear on my craft as much as I can. For me, the more I can talk to, and relate to my fans, the happier I am,” she told Showtime in a recent interview.

In 2009, Di’ja released her first single “Rock Steady” which was nominated for Best Urban/R&B Single at the 2009 Canadian Radio Music Awards. She won the Best New Artist award at the 2008 Beat Music Awards.

Di’Ja who joined the Mavin Records on February 14, 2014, was featured on the hit song “Dorobucci” alongside label mates Don Jazzy, Dr SID, Tiwa Savage, D’Prince, Korede Bello and Reekado Banks.
