Ghana Legend Samuel Osei Kuffour Appointed CEO Of Kumasi Asante Kotoko

Samuel Osei Kuffour

The former Bayern Munich and Black Stars defender- Samuel Osei Kuffour has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

The appointment of the 39 year old was sanctioned by the life patron of the club, the overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Kuffour would be tasked with forming a new management and run the club, to replace the management of Opoku Nti, which has been dissolved.

Sammy Tugah, as he is affectionately known, played for Kotoko’s city rivals King Faisal Babes at the beginning of his career, and then went on to become a world beater in 12 seasons at Bavarian giants Bayern Munchen, winning the UEFA champions league in 2001.

He returned to Kotoko in 2009 before his retirement, and has been working as a pundit for Supersports in recent years.

The Kotoko job is notoriously unstable, filled with power struggles at all levels. Kuffour would be in for a real baptism of fire.

An official announcement is expected in the coming days.
