3,500 Ghanaians seeking political asylum in Italy were denied by the Italian authorities, according to a regulatory body in the country.

Dr Liliane Murekatete, Founder and Executive Director of Ecology of the Migratory Flow (EMF), made the information known to the Ghana News Agency.

According to her, the request was denied because Ghana is a stable and peaceful democracy; directly invalidating why anyone would need to seek political asylum.

EMF is an international and humanitarian organisation specialised in migration issues with the mission of creating awareness to prospective migrants in order to dissuade them from embarking on uncertain journeys to Europe and other continents for greener pasture.

The EMF also helps the transitory migrant, stuck in the transition countries of Maghreb to come back home and assist legally, financially and socially to migrants willing to return to their countries of origin.

Dr Murekatete is currently in Ghana; trying to resettle these migrants, whilst trying to understand why people leave the country in droves to make the dangerous journey outside.

3,500 migrants to Italy alone, is that how bad the country is?
