The Local Black Stars took a slim first round advantage over Cote d’Ivoire after a come from behind victory over the Elephants.

The game was the final qualifying round for next January’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) to be held in Rwanda.

Sangare Ibrahim opened the scoring for the Ivory Coast in the first half, but it did not take too too long for Ghana to draw level.

Joel Fameyeh equalised in the 35th minute, before connecting to a sublime through pass 15 minutes from time to complete his brace and give Ghana the home win.

The second leg would be played in the Ivorian capital of Abidjan in a fortnight, with the winner expected to make the trip to Kigali next year for the fourth edition of the African Nations Championship.
