Nigerian Muslim Woman Calls for God to Bless Her Husband’s Second Marriage & the Social Media Replies Are Shocking

black muslim

It’s difficult to put a feeling to this tweet which came from a Muslim Nigerian, reported to be a true capture of her feelings of a real life situation she is in.

For a woman to take to social media to endorse and celebrate the fact that her husband is marrying a second wife—and request God’s blessing for the marriage is pretty shocking.

Mostly, we would expect her to be serving the divorce papers or be throwing unkind words to the new woman or her husband.

But she has been lauded as a true Muslim who understands that her religion permits her husband to marry a second, third or fourth wife if he desires. And they say what she should do as a Muslim woman is to celebrate this.

Of course it’s beyond pathetic—in fact this exposes the intrinsic bigoted frame of religion (here Islam), allowing men to marry as many as four wives and denying women the same privilege. And it can be argued that Christianity permits this too.

Interestingly, several other Nigerian Muslims tweeted in support of this—calling the woman’s tweet courageous when they should rather be condemning the doctrines which make her tweet even relevant.

If something is not right to be done to a man then it should not be right to be done to a woman irrespective of whatever absurd philosophy or theology that sanctions it.

  1. This is mumu woman. Sit there and allow your husband to marry second wife. Why don’t you try to marry a second husband and see what he will do.

    • You are a woman and you really believe there is nothing wrong with this practice because it’s their religion so we should leave it for them? Also, is it not interesting how christians are able to distinguish between Judaism and Christianity when it comes to such things. Yet paying Tithes and other things like homosexuality is not Judaism but Christianity, are they not all found in the old testament.

What makes a practice Judaism and what makes another Christianity?

      • First, yes I’m a woman but I’m not a Muslim and this woman clearly sees nothing wrong with that her husband is about to do so why would I let that bother me? And secondly, paying tithes isn’t a Christian practice, misinformed and greedy practice use the book malachi to manipulate Christians into doing this. And homosexuality isn’t a Christian teaching and is not of Christianity What bible are you reading? If you’re confused please research okay.

        • So paying of tithes is not a Christian practice and God does not reward cheerful givers? And you mean condemning Homosexuality is not also a Christian practice?

I asked; what is a Christian practice then since you seem to say everything in the old testament is Christian yet Christians condemn based on the old testament or practice several of the instructions from the old testament. Are those not Christians?

So the pastor who asks for tithes is not being Christian right?

          • Tithing is not a christian practice and paying tithe is not being a cheerful giver because you are doing this out of compulsion. Being a cheerful giver is giving what you have and what you can. You said homosexuality was of Christianity and I’m saying it’s not so I don’t get why you are twisting your words now. Can you stop twisting my words and making assumptions about thing I haven’t even mentioned. I never said the old testament was Christianity at all. Christians are required to follow the new testament because that is the new covenant. And yes it is wrong for a pastor to request for tithe unless they want food. Tithing was never money. Please read my points well and stop trying to twist my words. Thank you.
