Vodafone Drops Case Against 20 Year Old Who ‘Defaced’ Their Scratch Card

After the nonsensical decision to arrest this boy in the first place and prosecute him for defamation, this is the least Vodafone could do to stop wasting all of our time.

Creating a meme hardly seems like a cause for arrest, and displaying such ingenuity would get you a job offer, rather than a criminal record- in most advanced jurisdictions.

Vodafone has decided to drop all charges against the 20 year old IT expert Kwadwo Amakye, who was arrested for defacing the company’s scratch card.

Amakye edited the try again in the Yee Twi Ko scratch card to make it read ‘Kwasia, s3 wop3 sika adi’.

The inscription means ; ‘fool, were you expecting to win some money?’

Amakye said he created the image and a joke, and that it went viral once he shared it online. Vodafone claimed the picture has marred the brand’s image, and that the losses suffered are difficult to quantify.

Can they work on the numerous legitimate grievances Ghanaians have now, and leave the frivolous stuff to MTN?
