Ghanaian actor-John Dumelo finally confirmed exclusively to GhanaCelebrities.Com early this month that he was going to stage a political warfare—and that he will be campaigning aggressively for the NDC.
This came after many years of speculation that John Dumelo was NDC, a position he had calmly denied—mostly having said, he is a man of peace and not politics.
During the last election, John Dumelo appeared in a video which would best be described as an NDC campaign video but he denied the facts, saying, he was only in the video as a Peace ambassador and not to campaign for the NDC because he was not actively into politics.
At the time, he said: “Yes I did a TV commercial for the NDC in 2012 because I loved the message they preached. I must state here that it was purely voluntary. I wasn’t paid for that and I wasn’t expected to be paid for that. I did it for the love of the country. Any party that preaches what will benefit the country I won’t mind joining that bandwagon; be it NPP, CPP or PPP.”
Therefore it came as a shock when the actor finally confirmed to GhanaCelebrities.Com he was going to campaign aggressively for the NDC—-and it was even more shocking when a few days later after his announcement, he was spotted alongside other staunch showbiz-NDC members at the party’s recent Rally at Ho in the Volta Region.
Ghana is a democratic country and among its political principles is freedom of association so John Dumelo has every right to belong to whatever political party he deems fit.
But considering the gross incompetence of the NDC government led by President Mahama over the last 3 years, it battles the mind the sort of genuine campaign messages John Dumelo and his showbiz political friends will carry to the people as they take front seats in the campaign for the NDC to win the next election.
The million dollar question is; is John Dumelo doing this genuinely from heart considering the timing—or is he broke and desperate, in search for some quick cash?
After all, we all know where the cash sits in Ghana.
Now, in light of what happened to Mr. Beautiful’s career, we hope John Dumelo is ready to face the consequence of his strong affiliation with a particular political party, albeit unfair.
For those of you who have been battling each other on the question as to where John Dumelo comes from; he is indeed an Ewe from the Volta.
All I see is a man in his right senses who has made the decision to join a political party. He is human, he is Ghanaian. Above all he has the fundamental human right of freedom of association, just like Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, just like Daddy Lumba, all Ghanaians, and all other HUMAN BEINGS……
