Ah, rags-to-riches; the inspiring tales told of those who came from untold hardships to make it against all odds, meant to inspire the rest of us.

That was what Nikki Samonas was talking about, when she said due to her hardships growing up she now needs a man to take care of her, and thus poor men are off-limits to her.

MzVee seems to be the next one on the block, explaining how difficult it was for her growing up. Speaking at an end poverty campaign in Accra, she said her beginnings were far from easy.

“I grew up from poor background. I remember when I was young; my family of six were all staying in one bedroom in someone else’s house.” sze said.

“But I’m glad my mom learnt catering which I will say helped my parent get out of extreme poverty. Now she has three restaurants and over 100 employees,” she added, managing to sound impressive without even having added her own achievements.

Born Vera Harmenoo-Kpeda, MzVee hit the music scene with her debut album last year, and has since become an award winning artiste. She is currently signed to Lynx Entertainment.
