Nigerian singer and songwriter, Cynthia Morgan has revealed that children who are raised by single parents are likely to suffer ‘psychological trauma’.

The ‘Don’t Break My Heart’ singer said she was raised by a single mother—and that motivated her to strive for success in life.

The 24-year-old disclosed in an interview with the Punch that the first time she set her eye on her father was when she was at the age of seven (7).

“The first time I met my father was when I was seven years old and I know what it feels like. There is the psychological effect that comes with growing up without your parents together as a kid. It is only few people like me that came out normal and I became determined to be successful in life so as to make my mother proud.

“Some people use that as an escape to be wayward and turn out to be a single parent just like their mothers who gave birth to them. They forget that no woman wishes to be a single parent if they really knew what they were going into. Everyone wants the best for their kids and having a father is one of those things,” she said.

Cynthia rose to fame after she released her “Don’t Break My Heart” and “Lead Me On” singles—which enjoyed massive airplay in Nigeria.

On 22 August 2013, Cynthia Morgan signed a multi-million recording contract with “Northside Entertainment Inc.” owned by Jude ‘Engees’ Okoye, brother to Nigerian pop singers P-Square.
