The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced an increase in electricity and water tariffs, effective one week from now.

Electricity has been increased by 59.2%, whilst water has also been increased by 67.2%. The PURC say the decision was informed by several factors including consumer interest, investor interest, economic development of the country, generation mix, and availability of the service.

The increments take effect on December 14, 2015.
