Allegations of s*xual molestation against Bill Cosby is now nearing the half century mark, and irrespective of what can be proven in a court of law, he’s pretty much persona non gratta in the public eye now.
He continues a legal battle against some of the women, but the harm to his reputation is already set. Several universities have already revoked their honorary degrees awarded to the comic legend. Boston University is just the latest to do so.
The University, which handed him the award in May 2014, announced the revocation on Monday, citing the s*xual abuse scandal.
The specific part of the scandal they referred to was the 2005 deposition of Cosby in another case, in which he admitted to procuring drugs with the sole intent of plying his victims with them to make them more amenable to having his way with them.
Universities who have revoked honorary degrees handed to Cosby in the wake of the scandal include Brown, Marquette, University of San Francisco, and Virginia Commonwealth University.
