The revelations made by Norwegian newspaper VG on the deal involving Ghana getting some gas turbines at a massively inflated prices is leading to more stunning revelations.

Whilst Ghanaians try to make sense out of the entire deal, a new development is unlikely to make anyone happy. Ibrahim Mahama, the filthy rich brother of our President- says he received the contract to prepare the site for the AMERI turbines- and he was underpaid to do it!

Ibrahim Mahama, who won the contract to do this important assignment without anyone knowing the due process that was carried out- told Citi FM that his firm ‘saved’ his brother. According to him, if any other foreign firm had been contracted to do the work it would have cost the state much more.

So to save the cost, and make the site ready for the arrivals of the turbines- he took on the responsibility. According to him that was why he took the job.

“The determination of doing that job is to save my brother’s name. If I hadn’t done it, no contractor would have done it,” he emphasised.

Ibrahim Mahama’s retort, of course- is in the context of him being accused by the NPP of benefiting unduly from the clearly fraudulent deal. So he was probably trying to exonerate himself by talking about his selflessness to ‘save’ his brother. Forgetting that the bigger question is why it seems he can get a government contract so easily, not based on any objective criteria but him coming to ‘save’ his brother and making ‘only’ Ghc 25m into the bargain.
