The conversation surrounding these guys is not going away anytime soon, what with the people of Ghana being fed lies and half truths- as well as plain distortions from those in charge.
The government of Ghana last week struck a deal with the United States government to resettle two former inmates of the terrorist holding cell at Guantanamo in Ghana.
Aside the security implications of this deal, Ghanaians have also been wondering who would see to the upkeep of these guys in the country. Noises from government has been that the US would see to that, including that of Deputy Communications Minister Felix Kwakye-Ofosu; who told Starr News exactly that.
Yet the Public Affairs Counselor at the US Embassy in Ghana, Daniel Fennell, has revealed exactly the opposite. In a conversation with Kwesi Pratt on TV3, he revealed that both countries would contribute to the cost of keeping the two.
On the security side, that would be left entirely in the capable hands of Ghana’s intelligence agencies, competent as they are. This deal becomes more and more rosy by the day.
Watch Fennell’s interaction with Kwesi Pratt below…

The more we know, the more we get shocked. The president said we didn’t receive any money for this. True. But Guess what? WE ARE PAYING TO KEEP THESE MEN HERE.
