Our players must have some super special powers to be able to escape these kinds of ‘trouble’.
A Gambian forward who once turned out for the youth team of AC Milan, Yusupha Yaffa; has been discovered as an age cheat and faces criminal charges.
Yaffa signed for Milan in 2013, when he claimed to be 16 years old. However, it has now been discovered he was actually 25 at the time, forcing the Italian club to report him to the authorities for fraud.
Yaffa now plays in Germany, but has been summoned to court in Italy, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
Yaffa carried out his scam by changing the age on his documents when he fled to Italy from the Gambia and lost the originals, changing his date of birth from 1987 to 1996.
He then successfully signed for Milan, playing several times for the youth team, including during the period it was being handled by former club legend Filipo Inzaghi.
Things went south for Yaffa after schoolmates noticed his ‘new age’ on Facebook, and started calling him out on it.
Yaffa denies all the charges, and senior Milan officials including co-CEO’s Adriano Galliani and Barbara Berlusconi, as well as the aforementioned Inzaghi, are expected to testify.
19 or 28?
