This news has been making the rounds a few days now, but after waiting for it to be revealed as nothing but a crazy rumour, it seems that it is much more than that and could actually be true.
Reports are rife in both the Ghanaian and Spanish press that left back Gideon Baah, formerly of Asante Kotoko and who made his name as the first winner of the Metro TV Soccer Academy; is set to make a shock move to FC Barcelona.
The story originated Tuesday on online sports portal Ghanasoccernet, and has since made rounds in the Spanish media. The purported deal is a six month loan till the summer, liable to renewal depending on his performance during the period.
This morning (Thursday), Citi Fm is reporting that both the player and his agent are locked in talks with Barca chiefs finalising the terms of the deal. Baah would have competition from Jordi Alba, Adriano, and Jeremy Mathieu for the left back role.
Baah has been appearing for Finnish side HJK Helsinki for the past two years, his contract set to expire this summer. He has won one international cap for the Black Stars.
