US President Barack Obama has already outed himself as a huge fan of HBO’s Game of Thrones, when he asked one of the showrunners about the fate of Jon Snow.
Producer David Nutter rebuffed him that time, telling him the Night’s Watch boss was ‘deader than dead’. This time, they obliged- they must have figured it’s not a good idea to piss of the leader of the world’s most powerful nation twice.
Game of Thrones’ showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have revealed that Obama would be provided with advance copies of the show’s season six episodes.
HBO often screens episodes for critics and reviewers prior to the season, but they’re dropping even that, after a huge leak hit the early parts of season five. However, Benioff and Weiss said what the President wants, the President gets; so Obama would get to watch the show way before everyone else, after he asked them for advance copies.
“I think, for both of us, finding out the President wanted advanced copies of the episodes was an ‘ah-ha’ moment,” Weiss said, speaking at the premiere event.
“That was a very strange moment.”
“When the commander-in-chief says, ‘I want to see advanced episodes,’ what are you gonna do?” Benioff added.
Game of Thrones season six is setting up to be a massive one, with the two trailers released so far pointing to some huge plot developments. However, before you get to watch the premiere on April 24, know that the leader of the free world has already watched it.
