The semi final draw for the UEFA Champions league has just been completed at the ‘House of European Football’ in Nyon, Switzerland, and the event has thrown up some mouth-watering ties.
Ten times champions Real Madrid have been drawn against English side Manchester City, whilst giant killers Atletico Madrid would have to pull off another huge upset to reach the final, when they take on Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich.
Real Madrid, who pulled off a stunning come from behind win against Wolfsburg, would have to navigate the threat of Manchester City, who proved durable enough to hold off French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
In the other game, Atletico Madrid, who have gotten the whole world talking after an engrossing performance Wednesday at the Vicente Calderon, when they beat Barcelona 2-0 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate to halt their march towards defending their title- take on Bayern Munich, the five time winners of the trophy, who dispatched Benfica in the quarter finals.
First leg games come off on April 26 and 27, with the return legs a week later on May 3 and 4. Atletico and Manchester City host the first leg of their respective ties.
The UEFA Champions league 2015/2016 final would be played in the Italian city of Milan, at the legendary Stadio San Siro, on May 28, 2016.
In the Europa League draw, Liverpool were drawn against Villareal, whilst defending Champions Sevilla takes on Ukraine’s Shaktar Donetsk.
